After decades in education, Bette saw firsthand how easily academic focus can be lost to distractions and shifting trends. She believes schools must remain centered on their most important mission: strong instruction, structured learning, and real preparation for adulthood.
That belief is what led her to run for the Waukesha School Board—and what has guided her work over the past three years. During her tenure, the district has achieved measurable academic growth and was recognized as the highest-performing district among Wisconsin’s ten largest districts in 2024–25.
Bette is running for reelection to continue protecting academic excellence, supporting high-quality curriculum, and ensuring fiscal responsibility—so every student in every Waukesha school is equipped to succeed.
Our children are our most valuable investment. Bette is committed to keeping Waukesha schools focused, strong, and moving forward.
Bette and her husband chose Waukesha as the place to raise their family more than two decades ago. She is the proud mother of three children who grew up in the Waukesha community and schools—giving her both a professional and deeply personal investment in the success of every student.
Bette is a retired master educator with over 32 years of experience teaching elementary, intermediate, and middle school students in both Milwaukee and Waukesha. She taught in bilingual classrooms, earned her Master’s Degree in Curriculum and Instruction, and spent the final decade of her teaching career at Butler Middle School. Her career has always centered on strong academics, proven instructional practices, and high expectations for every child.
Beyond the classroom, Bette has served as an adjunct professor, conference presenter, and mentor to more than ten student teachers. She was honored with the Wisconsin Council of Teachers of English Pre-Service Educator Mentor Award for her work developing future educators. Today, she continues mentoring youth as a Career Planner and Independent Living Coordinator, helping young adults successfully transition from high school to careers and college.
